This season, the 9-10 and 11-12 year-old divisions (and ONLY these divisions) will be made up of 2 separate leagues, Major League and Minor League.  Players will register and participate in ONLY ONE league, depending on the player's experience, skill-level, and commitment as follows:

  • No prior playing experience is necessary
  • Introduces and teaches basic baseball skills and fundamentals
  • More opportunities to develop and play multiple positions in the field, pitching, etc.
  • Will have “tryouts", though only to determine the player's skill-level for the league draft, i.e. all players will be assigned to a team in the      minor league
  • 2 practices per week prior to regular-season games
  • 2 game days per week, 12 regular-season games, plus post-season tournament
  • Regular-season games focus on instruction and skills development. The post-season tournament will determine the league champions
  • A more typical recreational-type experience

  • Expected to have played several seasons, often at a more competitive level
  • Focus on refining basic fundamentals and introducing more advanced-level skills
  • Begin developing more advanced position-specific techniques
  • Will have tryouts in preparation for the draft AND to determine if the player's skill-level is appropriate for the Major League. If the AP              Baseball staff feels the player is not ready for Major League competition, he/she will be assigned to the Minor League and drafted                accordingly.
  • 1 practice per week prior to regular-season games (typically Wednesday's)
  • 1 game day per week (typically Wednesday's, possibly some time-limited double-headers). 12 regular-season games. NO post-season     tournament
  • Regular-season games will focus on instruction and skills development. However, the regular-season standings will determine the league champions
  • More typical of a competitive or travel ball-type experience

Please note that the above represents our plans for the spring / summer 2022 season. It is possible that we must make adjustments based on the numbers after registration.  This is more likely in the older divisions, i.e. 36 players are required for a separate league, only 30 register in the 15/16 group.  We may instead separate this into 13-15 year-olds and 16-18 year-olds to make 2 leagues instead of 3.
