We appreciate your interest in AP Baseball powered by Impact Sports.  As many of you know, this is our 3rd season to be affiliated with Little League Baseball International. Committed parents, dedicated coaches, generous sponsors, and our supportive Ascension Parish Recreation Department all came together to make things better! Not only did we have a very successful 2022 Spring/Summer recreational league, we also had a great All-Star season winning state championships in the 9, 10 & 11 year old divisions. Our program has grown tremendously in the past three years, and expect the league to reach full capacity at over 1000+ players. Registering early will be extremely important to assure your spot in the league.

Our Spring/Summer 2023 season will offer age divisions as listed below:

3/4 year-old Tee Ball
5 year-old Tee Ball
6 year-old Tee Ball
7/8 year-old (Coaches' Pitch)
9/10 year-old Minor
9 year-old Major
10 year-old Major
11/12 year-old Minor
11/12 year-old Major
13 year-old Major (Intermediate Division)
13/14 year-old (Junior Division)
15/16 year-old (Senior Division)
17/18 year-old (Veterans Division)

The 9 -13 year-old divisions (and ONLY these divisions) will be made up of 2 separate leagues, Major League and Minor League. Players will register in ONLY ONE league, depending on the player's experience, skill-level, and commitment as follows. Please do your best to register your child in the appropriate division.

MINOR LEAGUE
  • No prior playing experience is necessary
  • Introduces and teaches basic baseball skills and fundamentals
  • More opportunities to develop and play multiple positions in the field, pitching, etc.
  • Will have “tryouts", though only to determine the player's skill-level for the league draft, i.e. all players will be assigned to a team in the minor league
  • 2 practices per week prior to regular-season games
  • 2 game days per week, at least 12 regular-season games, plus post-season tournament
  • Regular-season games focus on instruction and skills development. The post-season tournament will determine the league champions
  • A more typical recreational-type experience

MAJOR LEAGUE
  • Expected to have played several seasons, often at a more competitive level
  • Focus on refining basic fundamentals and introducing more advanced-level skills
  • Begin developing more advanced position-specific techniques
  • Will have tryouts in preparation for the draft AND to determine if the player's skill-level is appropriate for the Major League. If the AP Baseball staff feels the player is not ready for Major League competition, he/she will be assigned to the Minor League and drafted accordingly.
  • 1 practice per week prior to regular-season games (typically Wednesday's)
  • 1 game day per week (typically Wednesday's, possibly some time-limited double-headers). 12 regular-season games. NO post-season tournament
  • Regular-season games will focus on instruction and skills development. However, the regular-season standings will determine the league champions
  • More typical of a competitive or travel ball-type experience
