2024 MAJORS vs. MINORS

The 9 -12-year-old divisions (and ONLY these divisions) will be made up of 2 separate leagues, Major League and Minor League. Players will register in ONLY ONE league, depending on the player's experience, skill level, and commitment as follows. Please do your best to register your child in the appropriate division.

MINOR LEAGUE DESCRIPTION

  • No prior playing experience is necessary.
  • Introduces and teaches basic baseball skills and fundamentals.
  • More opportunities to develop and play multiple positions in the field, pitching, etc.
  • A showcase will be held only to determine the player's skill level for the league draft, i.e., all players will be assigned to a team in the minor league.
  • 2 practices per week prior to regular-season games
  • 2 game days per week, at least 12 regular-season games, plus post-season tournament
  • Regular-season games focus on instruction and skills development. The post-season tournament will determine the league champions.
  • A more typical recreational-type experience

MAJOR LEAGUE DESCRIPTION

  • Expected to have played several seasons, often at a more competitive level.
  • Focus on refining fundamentals and introducing more advanced-level skills.
  • Begin developing more advanced position-specific techniques.
  • A tryout will be held in preparation for the draft AND to determine if the player's skill level is appropriate for the Major League. If the AP Baseball staff feels the player is not ready for Major League competition, he/she will be assigned to the Minor League and drafted accordingly.
  • 1 practice per week prior to regular-season games (typically Wednesday's)
  • 1 game day per week (typically Wednesdays, possibly some time-limited double-headers). 12 regular-season games. NO post-season tournament
  •  Regular-season games will focus on instruction and skills development. However, the regular-season standings will determine the league champions.
  •  More typical of a competitive or travel ball-type experience
